MORE STAGE 16

After a long day of watching the riders come up the hill the final ones started arriving.  The excitement level was pegging the meter as the split times were being announced.  Lance Armstrong was turning in the ride of a lifetime and everyone knew it by the second split.  It was now just a matter of waiting to see if anything tragic would stop him from taking the victory.  There had been mentioned fears of rabid spectators causing him to wreck but other than being spat upon by many of the German fans he arrived at the top of the mountain unmolested and in first place.
