"SPECIAL PROJECTS"
We get great personal an professional satisfaction out of going the way to make what the client needs. Whether it is a sign or not. Our clients have come to look at our business as more than signs. If they encounter a need and have now idea how to implement it, they just call the "signman". Some of the requests we get border on the bizarre and some are just simple head scratchers. We had one project that took us over a year just to come up with an idea of what might work. Usually it doesn't take that long. So if you get stumped on some odd project, give us a call and we will give it a shot. If you need it today or tomorrow, we will burn the midnight oil and get it done.
CUSTOM TAIL LIGHT MADE ON ROUTER
The tail light above was for a custom motorcycle built by a client in Texas. Our parameters were an absolute maximum size (we pushed every millimeter), it had to have two separate circuits (one for tail light and one for brakes), it had to be polished "billet" aluminum, it had to meet minimum legal lumen output, the lights had to be green and it had to be shipped in 72 hours. No problem for us. We cut it from two pieces of T-6 aluminum, installed high output LED's with voltage correction resistors, used hidden set screws to hold the two pieces together and then polished it to a mirror finish. Notice the 9-volt battery for size reference.
SUPER CUSTOM SPEAKER ENCLOSURE FOR 1957 CORVETTE
The above speaker box is one of a pair and was another last minute, middle of the night project. It was for a well known hotrod shop that was under the gun on a deadline to get to Barrett-Jackson's Phoenix auction. It had to fit inside the rear fender wells of a 1957 Corvette, they had to hold 10" JL Audio subwoofers and the entire deal had to disappear into the trunk liner. I mocked them up onsite with some cardboard, duct tape and a pair of scissors. Once I had my model, I scanned each piece, sized then in my CAD program and cut them on the CNC router out of 18mm PVC. They were assembled with screws and glue then wrapped with a couple of layers of fiberglass cloth and resin. They turned out tight as a drum and nobody could figure out where all that bass was coming from. The car set a record for its class at the auction.
CUSTOM VALVE FLANGE
The customer on this project was in a dilemma. A critical valve had gone bad and there was not another replacement for his application in the state. So what did they do? They called the sign shop. Who would thunk of dat? I looked at what their situation was and went to every industrial pipe supply vendor in the area. I found this valve and took to the shop. Two hours later we delivered this contraption which is still working years later.
