2008 TOUR DE GEORGIA
STAGE FOUR
Folks, it is 1:45 am and I am tired. I have not gotten to bed before 3:00 am since this race started and I get back up at 7:30 am. I am going to be brief with my information and photos for the day so that I can eat, shower and sleep for a couple of hours. Are there any shooters or webmasters that wanna work pro bono out there in cyberland? You could get what will end up being the most expensive T-Shirt of your life out of the deal...
What I will tell ya'll about today's stage is this. The bike riders went round in circles and it was HOTT!! While I know it wasn't it felt like the longest stage of the tour. It was very interesting though and probably the best venue for spectators I have ever seen for a bicycle race. I hope they do this again but maybe let the guys do it on real TT bikes and maybe take a couple of more laps for each team.
The results at the end of the day had Slipstream-Chipotle with Tom Danielson left in good shape for the mountain stages. Astana who will be supporting Levi for the next couple of days was 4 seconds back. Big George's Team High Road was third only 6 seconds off the pace. The next two stages are going to separate the GC riders from the rest of the field. I am super jazzed about the upcoming mountain stages which as always will be culminated by the climb up Brasstown Bald.
Greg Henderson is still in yellow, Tyler Farrar is in green, Rory Sutherland has the climbers jersey and Trent Low is in the best young rider jersey. Look for most of the jersey hierarchy to get a severe flipping over the next couple of days. The press conference was cancelled so no news from that.
I have hundreds of photos and lots of thoughts to add about this stage but it will all have to come later. Remember folks, I will be adding content to this section for at least several weeks until I get the bulk of my ramblings assembled in some form of coherent manner. At present I am just resampling my low res JPEGS but eventually I'll get to post processing my RAW photo files. Hopefully I'll be able to post some acceptable photos at that point.
